From Deepest Earth, a Flower

€300.00

36cm x 57cm
Homemade Ink on Handmade Paper

'From Deepest Earth, a Flower' is created using homemade, natural inks (made by the artist) on handmade, recycled cotton-rag paper from Southern India.

The organic quality of the colours creates a harmonious whole, as the inks merge, compete or simply sit alongside one another. Much like the world we live in, this painting is an ecosystem where each element finds its rightful place.

The picture is part of an ongoing series I'm creating exploring Global Localism - working with papers and materials that are artisanal, handmade, and seem, in their way, to involve local artists and artisans from all around the world collaborating creatively to make something new and beautiful. I feel a sense of hope in that.

The piece is offered unframed so you can decide how best to display it and enjoy both the work and the deckled edges of the handmade paper.
