As if you are digging deep into fossilising wood - on the edge between plant and mineral. Fossils are starting to form, but also the passing of decades can be seen in the wood grain. This is a piece about transition, of human time becoming geological time.
Made with natural, homemade inks, the ‘The Fire Within’ is created on washi-style paper inlaid with flecks of tea leaf, handmade in Nepal.
At one edge, a small spot of blue-green anchors the eye, and hints at the sky above, from which the light of all life comes.
